About “Shibuya Startup Deck”
Shibuya Startup Deck (a.k.a. "Shibudeck"), a consortium of Shibuya City and private companies, is a team that supports the development of startups through industry-government collaboration. The name "Shibuya Startup Deck" is derived from a skateboard deck, and it's also a reference to Shibuya, a mecca of street culture. It strives to be a springboard for the startups where, like skateboarders, they can fall many times but eventually jump high.
A number of established companies have joined as Shibudeck members. Based on their own real-world experience and expertise in entrepreneurship and management, they advise Shibuya City Office's startup support policies to ensure their direction and help startups grow by providing concrete "places" and projects.
We will create an environment here in Shibuya where startups can take on challenges without fear!

Subcommittee
One of the pillars of Shibudeck's activities is to set up and moderate "subcommittees," each a community where the members discuss and tackle specific issues to move forward to accomplish the consortium's four missions in different focus areas.
Currently, there are six subcommittees --"Real Estate," "Finance," "Human Resources," "Foreign Business Investment Promotion," "Culture," and "PoC & Social Implementation." From now on, corporates, organizations, and individuals will bring their ideas to the subcommittees and discuss them as they work toward implementation. Shibuya City Office will support these activities by providing funds.
