From November 21 to 23 2024, Shibuya Startup Support (SSS) participated in Meet Taipei, Taiwan's largest startup event. SSS exhibited on the booth floor and participated in side events together with S-Startups, a support system for startups from Shibuya expanding to the rest of the world.
Shibuya Startup Support（以下、SSS）は、2024年11月21日から11月23日にかけて台北で行われた台湾最大のスタートアップイベント「Meet Taipei」へ参加しました。渋谷から世界に成長するスタートアップを認定・支援する制度「S-Startups」や、スタートアップビザを活用して日本市場に挑戦する海外スタートアップの計3社と共に、ブース出展及びサイドイベントへの参加を実施しました。

Meet Taipei 2024
The theme of Meet Taipei 2024 was “TAIWAN +1,” exploring Taiwan’s international presence in the three areas of AI application (AI+1), deep tech (Tech+1), and internationalization (Global+1). More than 460 startups from 18 countries participated in the event, with a focus on building global partnerships.

「Meet Taipei 2024」では、「TAIWAN +1」という、人工知能（AI）応用（AI＋1）、ディープテック（Tech＋1）、国際化（Global＋1）の3つの側面から、台湾の国際的な地位を探ることをテーマに、AI、ディープテック、グローバルパートナーシップに焦点が当てられ、460以上のスタートアップが18カ国から参加していました。
Three S-Startups alumni were in attendance:
・Yokaizen: Developing an app that integrates manga content with therapeutic techniques to support personal growth and improve mental health and well-being.
・Hello World: Offering educational opportunities that provide exposure to diversity, aiming to be the equivalent to short-term overseas study programs without leaving Japan. Services include Machinaka Ryugaku and WorldClassroom.
・Adora: makers of Kodomamo, an AI-powered app that detects dangerous chats or inappropriate selfies taken on childrens’ smartphones and notifies parents. It also includes features such as screen time management, real-time location tracking, and prevention of distracted smartphone use.
・Yokaizen：マンガコンテンツとAIを活用し、心の健康をサポートするアプリを開発。
・Hello World：日本国内にいながら海外短期留学と同等の教育機会を提供する『まちなか留学』や『WorldClassroom』などのサービスを展開。
・Adora：子どもを守るAIアプリ「コドマモ」を提供。子どもがスマホで危険なチャットや自撮りをするとAIが検知し、保護者に通知する機能をはじめとし、スクリーンタイムの管理、リアルタイムでの子どもの位置確認、ながらスマホの防止など、多様な機能を搭載。

Sustainable Impact Forum
On the second day of Meet Taipei, the Sustainable Impact Forum hosted a panel where SSS’s Yoshiro Tasaka took the stage to share insights on the current state of impact-driven startups in Shibuya and the support systems available together with Steve Lin, co-founder of Sustainable Impact Capital and a leading figure in impact investment, and John Sechrest, founder of the Seattle Angel Conference.

「Meet Taipei」2日目に開催された「Sustainable Impact Forum」のトークセッションでは、SSSの田坂が登壇し、渋谷区におけるインパクト系スタートアップの現状や支援体制についてシェアしました。また、このセッションでは、Sustainable Impact Capitalの共同創業者であり、インパクト投資の第一人者であるSteve Lin氏やSeattle Angel Conference創業者のJohn Sechrest氏も参加し、それぞれの視点から渋谷やアジアにおけるスタートアップ支援の可能性についてに議論を交わしました。

Panel Discussion: Fostering Collaboration through Corporate Innovation
SSS’s Yoshiro Tasaka also joined a panel discussion (it was a busy event for him!) alongside Ryan Kuo, Advisor at CDIB Capital Innovation; Allan Chou, CEO of 21st Financial Technology; LingLing Liu, Director at DCI Partners; and Masa Naito from Mizuho Capital. The discussion centered on the collaboration between Japanese and Taiwanese startup ecosystems.
SSS introduced the challenges faced by foreign companies when entering the Japanese market, such as regulatory barriers and cultural differences, as well as Shibuya’s initiatives to overcome these obstacles. One key initiative highlighted was the planned introduction of an Angel Investor Visa, aimed at enabling more global talent to do business in Shibuya.

SSS田坂が、CDIB Capital InnovationアドバイザーのRyan Kuo氏、21st Financial Technology CEOのAllan Chou氏、DCI PartnersディレクターのLingLing Liu氏、みずほキャピタルのMasa Naito氏と共に、日本と台湾のスタートアップエコシステム連携について議論しました。
田坂は渋谷区の行政担当者として、海外企業が日本でビジネスを行う際に直面する規制上の障壁や文化の違いなどの課題、そしてそれらの解決に向けた渋谷区の取り組みを紹介しました。その一例として、多くのグローバル人材が渋谷でビジネスを展開できるよう導入を計画している『エンジェル投資家ビザ』にも言及しました。

CEO Roundtable
On the third day of Meet Taipei, SSS collaborated with Taiwanese incubator Garage+ to host the CEO Roundtable. Representing SSS, Sayaka Nakajima and Mari Matsuzaki delivered pitches on upcoming initiatives, including DIG Shibuya—a multimedia event that fuses technology and art—and the Angel Investor Visa project. They also presented Takeoff Tokyo, a global startup conference scheduled for March 2025 in Tokyo.
Networking sessions followed, facilitating discussions on new business collaborations between startups and investors from Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and beyond. This event marked a significant step toward strengthening startup ecosystems between Shibuya and various Asian countries.
「CEO Roundtable」
「Meet Taipei」3日目には、台湾のインキュベーション組織Garage +とコラボで「CEO Roundtable」 が開催されました。SSSを代表して中嶋と松崎が登壇し、2025年2月に渋谷区で同時多発的に開催予定のテクノロジーとアートの融合イベント「DIG Shibuya」や、今後渋谷区のスタートアップ支援の一環として始まる「エンジェル投資家ビザ」についてピッチをしました。また、2025年に3月に東京にて行われるグローバルスタートアップカンファレンス「Takeoff Tokyo」がカンファレンスのコンテンツやビジョンなどをピッチしました。
ピッチの後、ネットワーキングも行われ、日本と台湾の他、香港やタイなどのスタートアップや投資家と新たなビジネスの連携や協力の可能性について意見交換が行われ、渋谷区とアジア諸国のスタートアップエコシステムの更なる発展に向けた第一歩となりました。

Participation in AiSalon Taiwan and Taiwanese Government Events
Prior to Meet Taipei, SSS also participated in AiSalon Taiwan, where they introduced Shibuya’s startup visa initiatives. The event featured discussions on the challenges and success stories of Taiwanese tech startups expanding into global markets, including Japan. Special attention was given to Appier’s IPO on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2021, highlighting Japan’s market potential.
Additionally, at the 2024 International Networking Year-End Party hosted by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, SSS showcased its initiatives alongside representatives from Tohoku University, CIC Tokyo, and the Fukuoka city government.

「Meet Taipei」直前に開催された「AiSalon Taiwan」に参加し、SSSとしてスタートアップビザの取り組みを紹介しました。イベントでは、台湾のテックスタートアップが日本市場を含むグローバル展開を目指す際の課題や成功事例が議論され、特に Appier の東京証券取引所上場（2021年）の事例を通じて、日本市場の可能性が改めて注目されました。
また、台湾経済部中小及新創企業署が主催する「2024 International Networking Year-End Party」では、日本から東北大学、CIC Tokyo、福岡市などとともに SSS の活動を紹介しました。このイベントは、日本と台湾のスタートアップエコシステムの連携を一層深める貴重な機会となりました。
