Slush Event Report

On November 17th and 18th, Shibuya Startup Support went to Helsinki, Finland to take part in Slush2022. During the event we held a networking mixer, as well as joined Nordic Innovation House side event as a local partner.

Slush is one of the world’s largest startup events, bringing together startups, investors, corporations, media, and students from around the world. Over 12,000 attendees — representing 4,600 startups —  participated at this year’s Slush. Over the two-day conference there were talk sessions, a booth floor showcasing startups’ products and services, and an area where startups and investors could conduct meetings.

Networking Event “Japan Meets New Nordics”

Two days before the main event, Shibuya Startup Support and Nordic Venture Alliance held the joint networking event “Japan Meets New Nordics”. It featured “Ecosystem Pitches” — where startup support organizations presented their activities in 3 minutes — as well as a networking session.

Shibuya Startup Support partner Sayaka Nakashima joined and presented Shibuya’s startup initiatives including the startup visa program.

Ecosystem Pitch speakers:
・Julian Morie Hara Nielsen, Nordic-Asian Operations Manager at Nordic Asian Venture Alliance
・Tomosaku Sohara, Managing Partner at NordicNinja VC
・Niklas Karvonen, Community Manager at Nordic Innovation House – Tokyo

Participating at Nordic Innovation House event

On Slush Day 1, Shibuya Startup Support participated in the “Scaling the Best of Nordic Sustainability” side event organized by Nordic Innovation House. Thanks to the Nordic Innovation House Tokyo team, we were presented as an official local partner and conducted business matching with local startup companies interested in expanding into Japan.

Through our participation at Slush, we were able to meet and network with local startups and entrepreneurs who are considering expanding to Japan, as well as deepen our partnership with ecosystem builders and government agencies.

SSS will continue to strengthen ties with overseas partners to invite more international startups to Japan’s entry. For future updates and events, please follow us on social media!
