Event Report: MICS & Visit to Mongolia
2024年2月開催「MICS」イベントレポート&モンゴル視察
Shibuya Startup Support (SSS) participated in the Mongolia Open Innovation and Co-creation for SDGs (MICS) held in Ulaanbaatar on February 6 and 7, 2024. Tsutomu Nakaya from Shibuya City and Naomi Shimada from the Visa team attended the event and interacted with key players in the local startup ecosystem.
Shibuya Startup Support（以下SSS）は、2024年2月6、7日にウランバートル市にて開催された「Mongolia open Innovation and Co-creation for SDGs（MICS）2023」の最終イベントにパートナーとして参加しました。SSSからは渋谷区の中屋とビザチームの島田が参加し、現地のスタートアップエコシステムのキープレーヤーとの交流を図りました。

DAY1: MICS FINAL PITCH EVENT
MICS is a program that aims to solve social issues facing Mongolia by bringing together diverse stakeholders from Japan and Mongolia with technology, ideas, experience, and funds.
Ten projects were presented by the teams participating in MICS to showcase the results of their collaboration in solving social issues and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Mongolia. A panel was also held to discuss achieving the SDGs from the perspectives of Japan and Mongolia.
DAY1: MICS FINAL PITCH EVENT
MICSは、日本・モンゴルの多様な関係者が、技術・アイデア・知識・経験・資金を持ち寄り、モンゴルの抱える社会課題の解決を目的とするプログラムです。2月6日のイベントでは、モンゴルのアクセラレーター、KITE Mongolia LLC主催の最終ピッチが行われ、10のプロジェクトチームが、モンゴルの社会課題解決やSDGsの達成に向けた共創と協働の成果を発表しました。パネルセッションも行われ、日本とモンゴルの視点からSDGsの実現に向けての共創について議論が繰り広げられました。

DAY2: UB START-UP DAY
Alongside SSS, Gotanda Valley and Plug and Play Kyoto were also present at UB START-UP DAY on February 7, representing Japanese startup support organizations. They participated in a panel session, with SSS introducing their visa program and the Web3 conference EDCON that will be held in Shibuya in July 2024.
DAY2: UB START-UP DAY
2月7日のUB START-UP DAYでは、日本のスタートアップ支援機関として、SSS以外にも五反田バレー、Plug and Play Kyotoが参加し、パネルセッションへの登壇、ネットワーキングが行なわれました。また、SSSによるピッチも行われ、渋谷のスタートアップビザプログラムやエコシステムの紹介、2024年7月に渋谷で行われるWeb3 カンファレンス「EDCON」の紹介をしました。

Tsutomu Nakaya, Shibuya City: Mongolia is focusing on developing skilled human resources in the technology sector. We hope that our future collaboration will lead to attracting engineers, which is in demand in Japan.

イベントへの参加を通じ、多くの有望なスタートアップと繋がりを作るとともに、SSSのスタートアップ支援の取組みを伝えることができました。 モンゴルでは、国を挙げてIT人材の育成に注力しおり、今後の連携の中で、日本で不足が叫ばれるエンジニアの呼び込みに繋げていきたいです。また、モンゴルでは夏冬で寒暖差の激しい特殊な気候や広大な土地を持つため、実証フィールドとして活用できるよう、各機関との継続的なコミュニケーションを通じ、連携を強化していきたいです。
Naomi Shimada, Shibuya Startup Support visa team: The city of Ulaanbaatar contains 1.6 million people — half of Mongolia’s total population! — and so faces various difficulties in transportation and medical care. We also learned how the Mongolian people promote sustainable coexistence of people, livestock, and nature.
I spoke about SSS’s efforts in supporting entrepreneurs and startups at the event, and how we can support each other by taking advantage of the uniqueness of our two countries.

スタートアップイベントでは、モンゴルの文化や社会の問題を知ることができたと同時に、全人口の半数（約160万人）がウランバートル市に集中していることで、交通や医療においてさまざまな課題があることを知りました。イベントへの参加、またスタートアップの方々のビジネスを通して、彼らが持続可能な、人・動物(家畜)・自然の共生や資源の循環、経済、環境を推進していることを理解し、また、日本とモンゴル双方の連携の可能性を見つけることができました。
また、今回のイベントでは私からSSSの取り組みにおいて、特に起業家・起業支援についてお話ししました。 デジタル国家推進を行なっているモンゴルへの日本のスタートアップ進出や、モンゴルスタートアップの日本への進出など、両国がもつ特異性を活かしパズルのように互いにサポートしあい、また、社会問題解決や環境・土地を活かした実証実験などを通して、双方の連携を図り、スタートアップエコシステムを一緒に盛り上げていきたいと思います。
